Just an FYI, don’t try to use the vmware converter program to convert a windows 2000 workstation to a virtual machine. It just doesn’t work. It takes hours and when it is done it tries to setup the disk as a scsi device but doesn’ t install the drivers. Even if you install the drivers ahead of time you may get a BSOD on boot about an inaccessible boot device. Instead use VisionCore’s vConverter. It worked great the first time for me (and then a second!).

I haven’t tried vConverter, I will have to check it out. I have however used VMware Converter to successfully convert many Windows Server 2003 physical installs over to a virtual machine. Never did it with Windows 2000. (Maybe the support for that is less than desirable)

Hi all,
I would take a shot on this VizionCore Converter. Lately, I’ve trying to use a Vmware Converter, but with no results. It just gives you a blue screen saying about the disks. Well, if this works for me, I would say thank you for your advice. And its nice to have another options in virtualization anyway….I like vmware, but some things happens and you never have a clue what is going on…..
